Mark: It’s good, the helmet becomes part of the driver, they get really attached to it, it’s our only bit that we go and purchase, whereas the suit and everything else is provided.
The big thing about the Stilo is it’s airflow, the vents on the front allows the air to flow down the face.
This is by far the lightest helmet available, 500g-600g might not seem like much but when you are going 200km/h through the chase, the weight multiplies. It’s also very comfortable due to the low weight.
- Larger eyeport which allows for better visibility. - Inbuilt noise attenuating earmuffs for a quieter driving environment. The pressure upon the head can be adjusted by replacing the special foam rubber pads placed between the earmuff and the helmet. The earmuff’s unique shape ensures they stay in place and do not make the helmet difficult to put on or take off.
The closed faced ST5s also come ready for integrated electronics, air supply, and hydration.
Integrated Radio Options
The integrated electronics jack is positioned far enough away from the HANS post anchor in order to make the use of the jack trouble free even when the HANS is worn.
All wiring is hidden behind the padding and does not move around when you pull the helmet on and off.
Optional Air Supply System
The Air Supply System provides a steady supply of fresh air to drivers of closed cockpit cars. Many different attachments are available, all of which are integrated into the helmet shell. They can be used in conjunction with a communication system as well as the Hydration System. Top Air System - http://www.vsport.com.au/stilo-top-air-system-for-st5-2213
Optional Hydration System
The Hydration system has an inbuilt safety feature that can be easily detached in the case of an emergency.
There is a valve integrated into the quick coupling that prevents leakage upon disengagement.
The 2015 V8 Supercars Championship will be decided at the Coates Hire Sydney 500 after Craig Lowndes earned maximum points today at the WD-40 Phillip Island SuperSprint.
Lowndes lost ground to Championship leader Mark Winterbottom off the start of the 200km race, but clever strategy had the Red Bull driver at the front of the pack after the two required pit stops. Lowndes won by 1.97 seconds over Volvo's Scott McLaughlin and taking his 11th career win at Phillip Island.
Now, the pressure's on Winterbottom to take his first title, with a 179-point lead over Lowndes. Three-hundred points will be handed out in Sydney.
Chaz continues to thrill
He’s not only taken second position on the points table but has cut well into Winterbottom’s lead after two of three wins on the weekend.
Mostert continued to qualify well, earning his 10th pole position of the year on Saturday.
Even though he started on the second row on Sunday, the 23-year old was able to get into position and blaze into the distance to win by 7.65 seconds.
“It’s been a fantastic weekend, finished all the races and got a bank up of points,” Mostert said.
“The enduros are a big part of the Championship so we need to be just as solid there. I’ve got a good co-driver in Cam (Waters) so can’t wait to get to Sandown, it’s one of my favourite tracks.
“I can’t wait to get into it and see where we end up. We just have to be consistent and try to finish races but we’re a team and at the end of the day so if he (Winterbottom) gets it or I get it we’ve done the job for team.
“At the moment I just have to do my thing and keep tracking along and see what we do.”
A heavy mid-race shower threw the race into chaos. It became anyone’s game but Mostert held his cool to maintain his lead while the field slipped and slid behind him.
“I was pretty lucky that these guys beside us (Coulthard and Bright) were banked up a bit in the traffic when the wet weather came down.
“By the time they got around the other guys and started getting on with the job I had a little bit of a gap and was lucky enough to keep it.
“It was just hard being the first guy to reach the rain on the slicks and then to have to drive through it. Just trying to get yourself mentally back on racing line and start using it is a challenge.”
Stilo V8 123 podium finish
Chaz Mostert, Craig Lowes & Mark Winterbottom finished Sunday's race with a 1 2 3 podium finish. Making it a great result for Stilo Helmets.
Mostert finally delivered on his outstanding qualifying form, converting his eighth pole of the year into a third race win.
The Prodrive Racing Australia star ends the weekend third in the championship standings, behind team-mate Mark Winterbottom and Holden's Craig Lowndes.
Sunday's 65-lap race was effectively over by the first corner when Mostert got off the line quicker than Winterbottom, with no-one coming close to the 23-year-old for the remainder of the afternoon.
Winterbottom, who secured both race wins on Saturday, lost second place to Lowndes during the first round of pit-stops but held on to finish third and end the weekend with a championship lead of 265 points.
Lowndes came home second to complete a trio of podium finishes for the weekend and, despite his healthy advantage, Winterbottom admitted both his rivals remain real concerns.
Chaz wins amidst chaos
Chaz Mostert avoided a chaotic first race in Darwin on Saturday. After moving into the lead in turn one, he was never headed despite multiple safety restarts.
The second race saw a similarly incident-filled opening but Mostert hounded Tim Slade for second but was unable to make the pass and settled for his second podium.
Sundays Race seen Chaz grab a great start and settle into a strong race pace that seen him take out a 2nd place for race 15 and walk away from Darwin with a great collection of silverware.
Craig Lowndes has become the first driver in V8 Supercars history to win a century of championship races.
The Holden star had been sitting on 99 victories since March, but finally broke through for No.100 on Saturday in a dramatic second sprint in Darwin. Fittingly, it was the 888th race in the series – Lowndes' car number. "It's quite incredible," Lowndes said. "We've been close a number of times, the last couple of rounds, but this one's obviously special for me."
A Stilo helmet painted by Antman Helmet Design was presented to Craig to celebrate this milestone.
2015 sees the world leading helmet manufacturer Stilo release its latest generation of helmet, the ST5. The ST5 range comes in on top of the already successful ST4 range, which has been used by world champions in every discipline.
Closer to home, the Stilo ST4 was the helmet of choice for V8 Supercar greats Craig Lowndes, Todd Kelly and young-gun Bathurst 1000 winner, Chaz Mostert. Now, the ST5 raises the benchmark ever higher for competitors, and manufacturers.
The ST5 line-up features four variants: GT, Formula, Formula Naked, and Karting, which all promise a lighter, smaller shell, with increased vision, airflow and comfort.
The flagship model in the range is the ST5 F N Zero. This helmet has the smallest, narrowest and lightest shell in class. Aerodynamically crafted, the ST5 proved itself in recent Formula 1 tests, and is now used by Sauber team driver Felipe Nasr. The ST5 F N Zero weighs in at only 1.2kg, nearly half a kilo lighter than the next comparable helmet on the market.
The list of drivers already signed up for the ST5 in Australia 2015 includes Craig Lowndes, Mark Winterbottom, Chaz Mostert, Lee Holdsworth, Marcos Ambrose, James Courtney, Tim Slade and Todd Kelly.
Positive feedback has already started to amount, with V8 drivers having the opportunity to test the helmet for the first time early in February.
"I like the light weight of my new Stilo ST5. It is 500 grams lighter than helmets I previously used. When driving the weight of a helmet gets multiplied with the forces. This puts pressure on your neck and shoulders, so I can really feel the weight difference in the car. I am impressed with the air flow and the way you can push the vents to pin point where you want the air flow to go. It is also a really comfortable helmet so it ticks all the boxes for me," says Mark Winterbottom.
"The Stilo ST5 helps me keep a cool head, literally. The biggest thing we look for in V8's is airflow, and the top feed mount and vents on the ST5 helmet are great for that. The front nose is slightly smaller too, which gives me better vision. It's light, comfy, cool, and I can see more - very happy," says Chaz Mostert.
To view more details on the new ST5 range, head over to the Stilo website and check out the 2015 catalogue here.

6 out of the top 10 were using Pagid RS.

Endurance Record Set by Brembo
Brembo recorded an extraordinary performance and a scintillating victory at the Le Mans 24 Hour race in the GTE Am category, as the n° 50 Corvette of Larbre Competition took first place using Brembo RB 340 pads.
Once again, Brembo underscores its reputation as a top brand, and as the supplier of a product that can make the difference: the brake pads on the Corvette driven by Bornhauser, Lamy and Canal were not changed even once throughout the entire duration of the famous race, and the car maintained a gap of between 10 and 40 seconds over its nearest pursuer for almost 20 hours.
This is the first time that a GTE car equipped with Brembo pads has completed and won the Le Mans event: 329 laps covering 4423 km, and not a single change of pads â?? a truly remarkable achievement.
Team Larbre Competition were particularly appreciative of the RB 340, which delivered stable levels of performance throughout the race, especially during the colder night hours. Significantly, Pedro Lamy (former Formula 1 driver) produced his best lap of 3.58.534 during the latter stages of the race, proving that even under the least advantageous conditions, these Brembo pads were able to guarantee outstanding quality and performance.
The entire 24 hour Le Mans race â?? this year in its 80th edition â?? was characterized by the domination of Brembo equipment, both in the general classification, with the two Audi R18 e-tron quattros and the Audi R18 Ultra; and in other categories too: victory in the GTE Pro class with the success of the Ferrari 458 raced by AF Corse, and second and third place in the LMP2 category.

PagidRS victorious in GTE Pro class at Le Mans 24 hours
Ferrari factory team and Pagid RS technical partner AF Corse took the GTE Pro class victory at the 80th running of the prestigious 24 hour race at Le Mans, France over the weekend. Former F1 stalwarts Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni partnered with Toni Vilander to steer their Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, equipped with Pagid RS yellow endurance brake pads to victory at the world’s most important endurance race. This result is the 3rd great success for Pagid RS in 2012, after overall victories in both the Rolex 24 held at the Daytona International Speedway in January & the 12-hour World Endurance Championship (WEC) season opener held at Sebring in March.
Craig Lowndes wins first round of 2012
Craig Lowndes has scored his first win of the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship by defeating team-mate Jamie Whincup in a late-race scrap at Hidden Valley.
TeamVodafone proved the dominant force in a race typically dominated by tyre strategy.
Mark Winterbottom emerged best of the rest in third, albeit some 16.3s adrift of the race winner.
Craig Lowndes' Stilo ST4 WGT Carbon kept him cool while racing in the 31° heat.
The Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon driver took the lead from pole-sitting team-mate Will Davison while on the hard tyres in the opening laps but proved unable to fight for the win on the softer rubber.
Michael Caruso took a fine fourth place finish despite falling to the rear of the field with a stall at the start.
Fabian Coulthard, Will Davison, Shane van Gisbergen, David Reynolds, Garth Tander and Tim Slade rounded out the top 10
