Wheels - Oz Racing
The philosophy and strength of OZ Wheels are founded on the results achieved in thirty years of being present on the world's racing tracks: from F1 to Rally, without forgetting ALMS, CART and IRL.
Technology, enthusiasm, experience, research, know-how, organisation, timing and logistics have been transferred from racing to guarantee those who buy OZ wheels maximum quality, performance and safety. Formula 1 and Rally require wheels that are light, resistant to impact and temperature, presenting no defects whatsoever, as well as stable and easy to handle.

SupertourismoSupertourismo can be designed to suit most most tuner applications. It comes in sizes from 15" to 18" in various colours - POA. Available in Silver, Gold, White, Dark Sliver. |
Technology OZ light alloy wheels are manufactured using different alloys and processes according to how the wheel will finally be used. The OZ products range from cast aluminium, up to forged aluminium and magnesium, materials which respond to the extremely high performance standards required by racing wheels. This philosophy of one piece wheels, produced using state-of-the-art technology ensures the same quality advantages that Formula 1 wheels enjoy are applied to the wheels equipping your vehicle.
Aluminium is one of the most lightweight metals. Used in the form of alloy and subject to structural hardening and subsequent ageing, it preserves its main feature, its light weight and improves its mechanical and technological properties, such as its ultimate tensile stress, resistance to dynamic stress and corrosion.
|
Magnesium is the lightest of the structural metals. This property makes it particularly suitable for state-of-the-art constructions. It has the same melting temperature as aluminium. Magnesium alloys are extremely lightweight, with a high resistance to impact and vibrations and low inertia, which makes its particularly suitable for the production of racing wheels.
Low-pressure casting The alloy is pressed into the mould using pressure, which guarantees better quality of the finished product. Low pressure casting is a relatively new technique and is used to transform alloys into products with a high degree of finish. Aluminium and magnesium alloys are ideal for this casting process. The castings produced will be free from joints, porosity and shrinkage cavities.
| Forging Aluminium or magnesium alloy is extruded to a diameter of 300 mm. The extruded bars are then cut into discs, heated to a temperature of 300° C and forged on a hydraulic press, with a gradual pressure of 3,000 tons. A second press-forges the semi-finished product with a pressure of 8,000 tons. The forging obtained in this way, though still unfinished, is strong in structural tension caused by the extrusion and forging processes. Structural tension is synonymous with fragility so the pieces then undergo T4 or T6 heat treatment, which restores the mechanical features of the alloy.
Mechanical Processes Mechanical processing is carried out exclusively on forged wheels, using digitally-controlled tooling machines. Vertical lathes are used for machining the groove and wheel centre which will house the vehicle’s hubs and braking system. Before moving on to the finishing stage, the wheel is deburred by hand.
Finishing Aluminium and magnesium forged wheels may be anodised using special electro-chemical treatment, which does not lead to an increase in weight, protects against corrosion and enhances design and mechanical workmanship. |
